Breaking The Silence
From the album "Practically Normal"
Breaking The silence
(J. Levy - K. Fabbi)
Walks the streets at 10 P.M.
They see you - you don’t see them
Light a smoke - it starts to rain
Run for cover once again
One more block - you’re finally there
Water dripping from your hair
Take a breath - step into place
It’s so good to see her face
On the dance floor - eyes never meet
Though she’s not crying, she knows I can see
She knows I’ve known it for a long time
Someday... I’m gonna make her mine!
She can make up her own mind
A true love she’ll never find
Stay out late and sleep all day
Find yourself and come my way!
On the phone at 6 A.M.
They call you - you don’t call them
Run your fingers - run your fingers through your h...

I went to this Nov. 22, 1974 show and loved every minute of it!
I miss the days when beautiful music like this was quietly playing.in supermarket and stores. Wish the 50's and 60's never ended
Paul on bass would have made this great.
He was a good guy😊
“Why don’t you show us your tits, man?” This, and the fact that John clearly gets such a kick out of it, makes me kind of love (John &) Yoko, haha!
Love the song, even though the subject is not a pleasant one to hear. I think the sax was great! Great for a movie track!
Yes, it is a dark themed track for sure. The sax adds a great element if there was a video for this one. Standing on a prison wall in the rain dressed in black wailing on that sax. :)
Very beautiful song
Thank you. Dedicated to a beautiful person
Never knew this band but I’m so impressed Jeff!
thanks :)
Two things: Howard Stern for Govenor is basically a rewrite of John Lennon for President. And Howard says they first met Peel during Howards run but Peel apoeared on the Channel 9 show years before that.
I was driving home after my 2am shift, just as I entered my driveway the radio said the'Late' John Lennon, I stomped on my brakes and just sat there trying to take it in.Watching news reports the rest of the night I broke down and cried, Being both a musician and Beatles fan it was a tough thing to swallow. 😢
The radio spot is crap, but still better than the album.
I also first saw David in 1967 in washington Square Park. I lived in Greenwitch Village NYC. I was 14 years old. In 1997 I called him because I didn't receive a recording I had ordered. He asked me where I lived. I said Long Beach NY. He replied, "A fucken yuppie!" I took that as an insult. I worked my way up to afford to live there. I didn't like him after that phone call. He let me down.
The night when all hopes of the Beatles reforming were ended. RIP, John (and George).
Just to clarify John was assassinated at 10:50PM. The tonight show aired 11:30-12:30. This bulletin aired around midnight.
Yes. 22:50 = 10:50 and yes, this bulletin was early into the show that evening as the news began to break the terrible story to us all
I remember that news bulletin as clearly as if it was yesterday. And the most shocking part was that 6 months earlier, in June of 1980, I had a dream that John Lennon was shot to death. It happened on the night after I watched the scifi movie THE LATHE OF HEAVEN, which was all about dreams and prominently featured the Beatles song WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS. Somehow seeing that movie triggered me to have a dream predicting a catastrophic event six months later when the Earth was on the opposite side of the Sun.
Wow!
You're not the only one. I've read accounts from a couple of other people who predicted about six or eight months earlier that John would be shot by someone who'd be portrayed in the media as a lone crazed fan.
♥️
sure a masterpiece to show a lot in some secs. i heard about some very suspect contacts lennon had. and none know about the real character of madame ono. fight the establishment? now she have a big bunsh of lawyers to fight people who have no money and use pictures/images of lennon. never check them by herself, is it correct, is it justyfied,is it realy missused or a unthorysied comercial using. a german man who is fighting a very unjustice law about german TV had a image of charley chaplin and john lennon, i dont remember there was a third one. and "yoko" contacted him and he had to pay a lot of money and put the picture down. it was just at the wall of his livingroom. to show out peace and love and compassion and not for any missuse or comercial use. she never responded, she never did check this lawfight by herself. only took the money. is this how to fight establishment? this is how the establishment established! women is the lowest on earth cos of gready ladys who act from the closet. just my opinion.
S.S. Kresge Company: Note: Only records bearing this label are to be used for background music over the PA system. ME: proceeds to drop the needle on a random album by "The Doors".... Instantly creating the BLUE LIGHT SPECIAL on "HI-FI" gear. LOL.
Lennon's murderer, Mark David Chapman, was sentenced to life imprisonment. Putting Chapman to death would not have brought John back.
I agree. I despise the being I call 45.
Went to 2 shows at MSG and met Lennon that night
All greatest hits materials! :D
I first saw him in Washington Square Park in 67. He was singing and playing guitar and had a whole pack of followers. He was singing about smoking banana peels, said it would make you high, just a joke I guess. He couldn’t sing for shit but he did it at the top of his lungs. Had an STP sticker on his guitar. I have to say, the guy had a lot of balls. As a singer/guitar player myself I wasn’t too impressed with his musical talent but, hey, he went further with it than I did!
Stp?
".... of all the musicians, that's who he found...." Well said, Howard. John just liked to rebell, and if that meant picking out mediocre talent, but with audaciousness, John would go for it. John, picking these people was just a form of rebellion for John, I think. He couldn't seriously think that David Peel was a great talent. He had to think of him as sort of an amusing clown, and that was good enough for John. Shock value was more important to John, in picking talent, than actual musical talent, it appears.
Wack!
This is crazy, insane, depressing, epic epic epic epic shit.
Yoko como destruyes una canción tan buena...
Thats a big stage for Carly in 1971
I thought I've seen every George Harrison film clip but not this one.
Ela sempre foi muito criativa e corajosa, um mundo de gente sempre do contra, até mesmo eles se divertirem juntos, ela é inteligente, ousada e enfrentou um mundo machista de frente e muito bem acompanhada
Horrible esta esa mujer
Carly was a hottie terrific figure great rack
It's still better than a Justin Bieber record. 😆😅🤣😂
People say there ain't no rhymin without Paul Simon but I say there aint no art without Garfunkel !
Horrible. And laughable.
You know George was trying to get a piece
Fue horrible Yoko no canta aulla
Sexy AF
A beautiful woman,I thought then. She suffered severe bouts of stage fright, anxiety attacks, as a performer. She was open about the affliction to that, and you can find interviews where she discusses incidents and experiences.
Ok I’m man enough to admit Yoko sounded ok here. Now why couldn’t she do this all the other times that she sounded like a screeching cat who’s tail got caught in a rocking chair?
She made some good albums though, starting with 'Approximately infinite universe'. Mrs. Lennon / Mid Summer New York is an excellent single from 'Fly' album, which is mostly screeching apart from those 2 tracks ! Best wishes. 'For God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten son, Jesus, that whoever believes on him shall not perish but have everlasting life ' John 3: 16 I know what you mean with some of the screeching!
John was killed by the war machine. Millions are made from war. John was in the way.
Carly... What a body... Yes please .Great rack
Cool
We used to go to little Mills Tavern in Greenwhich Village to see david. Very funny guy. turned him on to very potent weed. Said he never smoked such strong weed .
two greats!
3
Are you referring to her two legs?
What were they saying to each other?
good skirt
ya know there's all this weird stuff with such things... I never thought about until coming across this clip tonight... I was 8 years old on Dec.8, 1980 and my grandmother who has long since passed and I still often think of was born on Dec. 7th, 1911, but most certainly alive in 1980 and 25+ years beyond. My point is that she was born on the same day 40 years earlier than the pre-dawn attack on Pearl Harbor (her name was Pearl btw!!!). Anyway, it occurred me while reading the comments here that within about the same 24 hour time-span as people were just hearing the news of about Lennon on the night of the 8th of 1980, people were realizing the reality of Pearl Harbor 39 years earlier before John Lennon was killed at age 40. I therefore think those two events have an interesting connection and both had a galvanizing and shocking effect on the psyche this country and the world. I thought all that was worth noting... even if nobody reads it. RIP John Lennon, those killed at Pearl Harbor, and grandma!🙏🙏🙏
wow nifty, two more people than I imagined surprised me with a couple thumbs ups must have read my little epiphany. I'm now 49 and my grandma was 89 when she passed.... also weird! And I was born on the 8th of March to boot!
She has as much singing talent as me.
I wonder if they were comparing their troubles with Paul
haha
Ha ha you! I suppose George is trying to get Art to perform at the forth-coming Concert for Bangla-Dash ! He was hands full of work, to make it all work.
Yeah, they both had Paul troubles.
Holy shit! 😂
That's a good one.
.. what a dreadful woman
